Our Inpatient Applied Psychology Research Unit is focused on improving the psychological care provided to people with acute and complex mental health conditions receiving inpatient psychiatric care. Our projects are detailed below.

We are developing and evaluating psychological interventions for people residing in acute psychiatric inpatient wards.

Understanding the role of emotion regulation and self-schemata in acute psychological distress

We are investigating how emotion regulation and self-concept may contribute to acute and complex mental health problems.

Supporting the mental health workforce in Scotland

We are developing ways to increase the psychological skills of the mental health workforce in Scotland, particularly those providing acute inpatient psychiatric care.
