Dr Philip Murphy, Associate Member

Dr Philip Murphy is a clinical psychologist and trial therapist at the University of Manchester. He completed his clinical psychology training at the University of Edinburgh, where he completed the first meta-analysis of the influential 'delusions-as-defence' model of persecutory delusions, as well as the first ever case series of psychological assessment and formulation of impaired treatment decision-making capacity in psychosis.

Prior to his training, Philip had conducted research in different areas, including dual diagnosis (alcohol use disorder and comorbid affective disorder), problem drinking and emetophobia. For example, he was one of the leading authors on a pilot ACT trial for dual diagnosis patients, and he was involved in a longitudinal study which tracked dual diagnosis patients over 5 years.
